Background
Buxola is a start up consumer targeted internet based end user purchase benefit programme. It may sound like a mouthful, but its goal is simple and much more fun - find and provide its members the greatest deals, special offers, bonuses and free stuff! With over 30 000 members (and the number is climbing) Buxola is fast becoming a leading destination for smart, savvy, sassy folks!
Challenge
Come up with a name and brand identity that would make an immediate impact in the market place and demand attention from the most fickle of demographics, the consumer. It should be memorable, repeatable and easily identified in a crowded market. In addition, the brand identity would need to be attractive to more than one distinct audience, the consumer and the vendor partners required to supply great deals. The primary platforms of engagement would be web, digital communications (email, internal TV adverts at vendor partners, SMS) and print media. A consistent message across each was required with an upbeat, highly engaging look and copy writing.
Solution
Due to a very short time to market, we utilised a short form of our strategic brand development process, which ensures that the critical areas of the brand strategy are covered whilst leaving out some areas of fine detail which would be an acceptable risk to an agreeable client. We developed the Big Idea and brand essence to inform the creative brief which resulted in the Buxola brand mark and visual language. After an intensive workshop and war room planning session to help the teams work most effectively together, design began on the main brand touch point, the website. The site was completed in less than 2 months and additional touchpoints such as a corporate identity system and other digital media followed.
